1938 Pelikan 100N Clear Celluloid Barrel
Buy This Pen

ca. 1938 Pelikan 100N clear celluloid barrel with hard rubber. This one has a worthy backstory. Several years ago a South American pen dealer came to me with an example of this. I examined it and determined to my satisfaction that it was real, even though it appeared in no catalogue. What is it? A Pelikan 100N demonstrator. Not just a shaft without a binde, but this has a built up area where the binde would have gone. I've not really known what to make of it other than to think "how cool?" Now another has crossed my path and I am willing to offer it up to those who value the esoteric. Is it real? Yes, I believe so, especially with the emergence of a second example. This one is not perfect, it shows considerable wear to the hard rubber parts, especially the captop logo, and the barrel shows a minute degree of distortion on close examination. I think I can remove that distortion if the new owner wishes me to and I could even install new hard rubber parts to make it into a showpiece, but for now I offer it as it came to me. Restored with a new cork, cleaned and polished. If the pen were perfect I would want twice what I am asking, at $795
